Senior men retain Intermediate status

Drumgoon 2-19 Munterconnaught 2-15

Our senior men deservedly retained their Intermediate status for another year when they won their play off game in Bailieborough on Sunday afternoon. The large crowd were entertained from start to finish, as fortunes swung back and forth. Drumgoon started very well and raced into a 7 point lead inside 15 minutes after John Mc Dermott drove through the middle to rifle a shot to the net. Munterconnaught struck back with a goal each from Eoin O’Shea and Enda O’Shea to lead by 3 points at the break. In the second half points from the flying wingers Damian Hughes and Ciaran Clerkin were followed by a two pointer from Caolan Jackson that put Drumgoon back in the driving seat. With 30 minutes on the clock Munterconnaught drew level through a two pointer from their roaming keeper. The tension was palpable in injury time, as team captain Ben Brennan raced through to put Drumgoon back into the lead. Conor Moynagh won the next kickout and put sub Cameron Reilly through, who found Caolan who cooly palmed to the net, to finish the contest.
