County Champions
The Drumgoon Under 13 boys are the Group 1 county champions for 2021. The boys put in a brilliant performance in Breffni Park on Tuesday evening last to run out winners on a scoreline of Drumgoon 6-15 Mountnugent 3-11.
The boys were very well coached by Barry Crosson, Martin Hughes and Martin Clerkin. All year the boys have been showing great skill and teamwork, and hopefully many of them will feature strongly on Drumgoon teams in the future. The winning squad was Daniel O’ Reilly (Capt.), Breen Clerkin, Cameron O’Reilly 0-01, Brian Mc Dermott, Ciaran Clerkin 1-05, Rian Crosson, Damien Hughes 4-07, Cormac Clerkin 2-02, Caolan Crosson, Dylan Keappock, Charlie Gallagher, Breen Mc Donald, Padriag Ward, Kayden Mc Cann, Steph Coppins, Cian O’ Reilly, Oisin Mc Gibney.

Intermediate Championship
Played in Ballyhaise on Saturday evening, Drumgoon were very unlucky to be just caught at the death, having led by 4 points going into the final minutes. A penalty and a good long range point For Drumlane left the sides level on a scoreline of Drumgoon 1-14 Drumlane 2-11. The team was Corey Smith, Donal Keappock, Killian Moynagh, Dylan Hand, Barry Cooney 0-1, Keith Fannin 0-7, Shane Smith 0-2, Kaylan Jackson 0-1, Enda Shalvey, Dean Carroll 0-1, Conor Moynagh, Conal Farrell, Daniel Ward, Paddy Smith 1-01, Paddy Mc Cabe 0-1 Subs Mick Mc Donald, Aogan Og Farrell, Niall Clerkin. The final group game takes place on Sunday next in Killygarry at 4 o’clock when they face an inform Templeport team.

Camogie win

Congratulations to our U15 camogie girls, who overcome Laragh in a pulsating Champioship semi-final in Stradone, during the week. It was a tough end to end encounter with both teams showing excellent skills and teamwork. In the end Drumgoon came out on top on a scoreline of 6-02 to 4-06. The girls now play Denn in the final. Thanks a million to everyone who came out to support the team.

Well done to our club girls Alannah, Rachel, Charley, Ciara, Philippa, Rose, Éabha and Amelia , who were part of the Cavan U16 squad who played Armagh in the Ulster Championship on Sunday last. Camogie training for Primary School girls Monday evenings 6-7pm on Boyle Park.

London Success
Congratulations to our former player, Sean T McGorry and his St. Clarets teammates on winning the Junior Championship final in London on Sunday last. St. Clarets beat St. Kiernans in the final which was played in Mc Govern Park, Ruislip.  Sean T gave a stellar performance at full back.

Ladies win
Drumgoon ladies had another good win on Sunday morning in the Championship. Played on Boyle Park in perfect conditions, the girls led from start to finish. Their defence was sound and they dominated midfield. Up front Cathering Aherne and Jordan Crowe led the way. Played in Mullahoran under lights on Friday night last, Drumgoon never got into top gear on the night and despite a late fight back went under to Cornafean on a scoreline of Cornafean 1 – 12 Drumgoon 0 -10. ongratulations to the under 17 boys, who are the new county champions. They defeated Castlerahan on a scoreline of Drumgoon 4-18 Castlerahan 4-06. The boys who put in a scintilating performance, on Tuesday evening in Breffni Park. The large attendance cheered the boys all the way, as they played some exhilirating football, from start to finish. Their teamwork was from the top drawer, and their finishing was sublime. The winning team was, Peadar Mc Cabe, John Mc Dermott 0-1, Matthew Mc Dermott, Philip Morris, Andrew Murray, Darragh Lynch 0-06, Euan Crosson, Ryan Conroy 0-5, Shane Shalvey 1-03, Ben Brennan 3-03 Ben Mc Donald, Gerry Morris, Lee Pepper, Cian O’Hare, Oisin Pepper, Lee Murray, Team Mascot, Jack Morris. Camogie
Congratulations to our U15’s on a great team performance to overcome Castletara on Thursday last on a scoreline of 5-4 to 1-4. Both teams fought hard and showed some excellent skills and teamwork. Thanks to everyone who came out to support it’s very much appreciated. Best of luck in the semi-final girls.

Prize winners

Under 13 boys in final
The under 13 boys played very well on Boyle Park on Saturday last when the defeated Arva in the semi-final. The team members were, Daniel Reilly, Breen Clerkin, Cameron O Reilly, Brian Mc Dermott, Rían Crosson, Ciaran Clerkin, Caolan Crosson, Damien Hughes, Cormac Clerkin, Paraic Ward, Charlie Gallagher, Cian O Reilly, Breen Mc Donald, Dylan Keappock,and Kayden Mc Cann. The boys now play Mountnugent in the final in Kingspan Breffni on Tuesday 14th at 7.15

Ladies win
The senior ladies got over the first round of the County Championship, on a scoreline of Drumgoon Eire Og 0:10 Laragh Utd 1:5 This was a brilliant game of football and had the large attendance on their toes from start to finish. All Ireland Camogie Champions

Many congratulations from everyone in the club to our four all Ireland camogie champions. On Saturday evening last in Markievicz Park, Sligo four Drumgoon Eire Og players, Laura Fox, Alannah Clarke, Rachel Tierney, & Charley Norris, were all part of the Cavan minor camogie squad, who defeated Mayo, in the All Ireland minor C, Camogie final, on a scoreline of Cavan 2-05, Mayo 0-08. Many hours of training on Boyle Park and Breffni Park, paid off for the girls and their managements teams.

Championship
The first round of the Intermediate championship is on Sunday next in Knockbride at 1 o’clock, when the men take on Bailieboro. Stephen Mc Govern and his management team, have a full squad to pick from and everyone is eagerly forward to the event. On wednesday, 1st of september, the ladies play their first round in the championship when they play Laragh at 7 o’clock,

Camogie Final

Congratulations to our club girls, Alannah, Rachel, Charley, Laura and the Cavan Minor Team, who defeated Louth in the All Ireland semi-final, at the weekend.

Cul Camps
A large group of boys and girls are thoroughly enjoying the gaa cul camps on Boyle Park, all this week. The weather so far has been good, as they enjoy fun and games all day long, with their neighbours and friends.

Football
The under 17 boys had a good win over St. Finbarrs on Tuesday evening last, while the under 15 boys went under in the semi-final on Saturday to Lacken.


Ladies Football
Congratulations to Catherine Aherne who led the line at full forward, for the Cavan minor ladies, in the Ulster Minor Gold Final, in Omagh on Wednesday evening last. The final score was Cavan: 3-15  Tyrone: 1-8. 

Camogie
Well done to our club girls Alannah, Rachel, Charley and Laura, who were all part of the Cavan Minor camogie team, who defeated Tyrone, in the All Ireland  Minor C Championship at the weekend.

Division 2 league
On Saturday evening the senior men played an entertaining game with Belturbet and were unlucky to go under by a few points. The final score was Belturbet 0 – 11 Drumgoon 0 – 09.

Congratulations to Drumgoon U12 girls and their management , Maria & Ciaran Lynch,  Ellen Gallagher and Diane Pepper on winning the U12 final in Kill against Laragh on a score line of 0.11 to 0.09. Team captain Leah Lynch, lifted the cup to great applause at the end

Hurling
Congratulations to Ben Brennan, Euan Crosson, John and Matthew McDermott, who were in the squad who won the Corn Tom Hogan Celtic Challenge Final, at the weekend and hard luck to Enda Shalvey and the Cavan Team who lost the Lory Meagher Final.

Division 2 league
An understrength Drumgoon team went under to Knockbride on Saturday evening on Boyle Park.
They have been unlucky with injuries this year and team management are hoping that they will have a few of their more senior players back soon, for the championship. Drumgoon’s scheduled League match with Bailieboro on Saturday last, was postponed due to a bereavement in the Bailieboro club. On Saturday evening next, the men are at home to Knockbride at 7.30.

Camogie
Well done to our minor camogie players, Laura Fox, Alannah Clarke, Rachel Tierney, & Charley Norris, who were all part of the squad who defeated Donegal, in Round 1 of the Tesco all Ireland minor championship, Cavan 2-09 Donegal 2-03. Best of luck to the under 15 camogie girls, who are in the Division 1 final, this Thursday evening against Laragh in Stradone at 7 .

Exciting Game
Drumgoon and Ballymachugh played out an exciting draw on Boyle Park on Saturday eveningPlayed in glorious sunshine, the visitors got off to a great start and soon ran into a 5 point lead. However in the second half the youthful Drumgoon side finally found their feet and they chipped away slowly at the lead, to deservedly draw level. Indeed only for some excellent goal keeping for Ballymachugh, including saving a penalty, the home side could easily have won.  The final scoreline was Drumgoon 1-12, Ballymachugh 1 – 12

Division 2 League

Drumgoon 1- 12 Mullahoran 2 – 18
Drumgoon had Mullahoran as visitors to Boyle Park on Saturday evening and after having led for three quarters of the game went under to their more experienced opponents. Nine of the staring team are under 22, so the team management were happy that they have plenty of young talent to work on.

Good Start
Drumgoon senior team made a good start to the League, when they played out an exciting draw in Lavey on Saturday evening last. Fielding a very young side with 4 players , Daniel, Patrick, Adrian and Dean making their senior debuts, they led for most of the game only to be caught in the final closing minutes. Next up for the boys is at home this Saturday evening on Boyle Park to Mullahoran at 7.30.

In another busy week on the playing fields, all of our camogie and football teams are in action.

On Wednesday 23rd June , Senior camogie home Denn at 7.30, the U14 LGFA are away to Drumlane at 7 oclock

and the under 11 boys home Killinkere at 7. On Thursday 24th June, U13 boys home Ballinagh at 7.

On Friday 25th June ,  U16 LGFA away Lacken at 6.30

On Saturday 26th June , U15 boys away Naomh Brid 1 o’clock and U12 LGFA away to Laragh at  2.30

Also on Saturday the Senior men are at home to Mullahoran at 7.30

On Sunday 27th June , Senior ladies home Mountnugent/Munterconnaught at 11 and the Junior B menare at home Killinkere at 2 o’clock. On Tuesday the under 17 are away to Bailieboro at 7. Congratulations to Caoimhe, Sarah, and Ciara who were part of the Cavan Camogie Team who won the Littlewoods Division 4 National League Final at the weekend.

Fixtures, week commencing the 14/6
Following on from a hiatus of 8 months, the senior men are finally back in action this weekend.  On Saturday next the boys travel to Lavey to take on the locals at 7.30. Training has been going well and the boys are confident that they can put in a good performance.

On Thursday 24th, the under 13 boys are home to Ballinagh at 7. For the Ladies, the under 14 girls are home this wedensday 16th at 7, to Castlerahan/Denn, while the senior camogie are away to Laragh.. On Friday, the under 16 girls are at home to Ballymachugh at 6.30, on Saturday the under 12 girls are away to Ballymachugh  at 11 and on Sunday the senior ladies are home to Knockbride at 11, while the reserve men are away to Drumalee at 2. Well done to Rose, Philippa, Ciara,Rachel, Alannah,Charlie,Sarah and Katie, who were all part of the Cavan under 16 camogie squad who defeated Donegal at the weekend. Also to Caoimhe, Ciara and Sarah, who were part of senior camogie team who defeated Mayo at the weekend.

Underage 7/6
The underage boys are delighted to be back in action this week, when the Under 13 boys are away to Ballymachugh  on 8/6/2021, Tuesday evening at 7. The under 17’s are home to Naomh Brid on Thursday at 7. The Under 15’s are home to Mountnugent on Saturday at 2.  We wish them all well

Camogie.

It’s been great to have all our camogie players back at training over the last few weeks and now it’s finally time to get playing some matches.  On Wed. 9th June our senior team travel to Ballinagh for the first round of the new Summer League. Throw-in is 7.30pm. 

There is great excitement on the U-13 team as they start their campaign on Mon 14th against Castletara on Boyle Park at 7pm.  As no U-13 games were played at all last year it will be great to finally see these girls take to the pitch in a competitive match.

We wish both teams every success for the year ahead.  Training continues on Mondays for juveniles and new players are always welcome.

A number of Drumgoon girls are currently in training with the County U-16 team and they have their first match Sun 13th against Donegal. 

The Cavan Senior Team have continued their winning ways from last year. They take on Mayo in the Div 4 League semi-final Sat. 12th June, and we wish our club players Caoimhe Clarke, Ciara Fitzpatrick, Sarah Clarke and all the team and management every success. 

A number of our players are starting their Leaving Cert exams this week and we wish them the best of luck and look forward to having them back playing soon.
