Dernakesh N.S. 9-10 Ballynarry 5-08

Congratulations to the boys from Dernakesh N.S., who dominated a high scoring Cumann naBunscol final against Balinarry NS on Friday 6th June, in Kingspan Breffni. A rain soaked first half was an even affair with score for score before Dernakesh pushed ahead before half time with some well taken scores from midfielder Eoghan McQuillan and a hat trick of goals from Martin Hughes.

The sun was shining in the second half as Dernakesh dominated with goals from Aaron Morris, Gavin Geoghehan and Levi Brennan pushing them well ahead with the influential McQuillan tagging on points, assisted by the powerful Ollie McEnroe from half back and midfield partner Patrick McCabe.

Dernakesh NS defeat Ballynarry in goalfest

Dernakesh NS. 9-10 Ballynarry N.S. 5-09

Demakesh NS were crowned Division 4 Boys champions after a pulsating final that saw an incredible 14 goals and 19 points scored in a match full of attacking flair. Despite a valiant effort from Ballynarry NS, who showed great resilience and scoring power, it was the clinical edge and wider spread of scorers that carried Dernakesh to glory.

The match opened at a furious pace, with Ballynarry striking first through a sharp finish from Fionn Kiernan. Dernakesh responded immediately, led by the outstanding Martin Hughes, who finished the day with a superb 2-4. The first half ebbed and flowed, with James Fitzsimons adding a goal for Ballynarry and Jack Morris netting at the other end to edge Dernakesh into the lead.

By half-time, the scoreboard was already lighting up: Dernakesh 4-7 to Ballynarry 2-4.

The second half brought more drama. Ballynarry fought back impressively, with Fitzsimons and Kiernan continuing to deliver, and Mason Cullen adding a goal to bring the game back to life. larlaith Coll chipped in with two key points as Ballynarry kept pushing forward.

However, Dernakesh’s strength in depth and unrelenting forward pressure proved the difference. Levi Brennan and Gavin Geoghegan each grabbed two goals, while Ollie McEnroe, Aaron Morris, and Eoghan McQuillan added vital scores to seal a well-earned victory.

This was a truly memorable
final, full of passion, free flowing football and excellent scores. Both schools can be very proud of their performances on the day, but it’s Dernakesh NS who take home the silverware after an unforgettable battle.
