Under 16 girls win county Final

Congratulations to our under 16 girls who travelled to Arva last Saturday and defeated St. Josephs in the final on a scoreline of Drumgoon 5-27 St. Josephs 4-07. Having lost to the same opposition in an earlier round the girls were determined to make no mistake this time. They dominated the game from start to finish and indeed restricted their opponents to two points in the second half. Playing up the hill Aoibhin Callaghan was in sparkling form and soon had scored a goal and a point. The deadly accurate Leah Lynch shot over several points followed by the effervescent Katie Mc Cabe who covered every inch of grass and took lots of good scores. Showing great energy and skill Teagan Rhea Clerkin drove forward and scored two well taken goals. St. Josephs fought back hard by a capable Drumgoon defence ably led by full back Rachel Carragher held firm. At half time Drumgoon led on a scoreline of 4-11 to 4-04. The second half continued in the same vein with the fast running midfielder Emily Gallagher providing an ample supply of ball for Leah Lynch and Katie Mc Cabe to add to their points tally. The girls all played very well as a team and ran out deserving winners. Joint captains Emily Gallagher and Leah Lynch thanked the girls and the management team of Peter Gallagher, Martin Carragher, Maria Lynch and Ellen Gallagher for their efforts all year.
