The official opening of our new Sports Hall & Club Rooms, took place on Boyle Park, on Friday 2nd of December. The opening was performed by the Uachtaran CLG, Aogan O’ Fearghail, accompanied by Minister Heather Humphries T.D, Chairman of Cavan County Board, Gerry Brady and Cathaoirleach Droim Dhuin Eire Og, Roseanna Clarke. Aogan praised the club for achieving so much in such a short space of time. The building was state of the art and as good as anything in the country, and will be of great benefit to the people in the area. He thanked the minister for her help in securing the funding from the Sports Council. The Minister praised the club and said that it showed what could be achieved in a small rural community, when everyone helped out. Roseanna thanked everyone in the parish, especially the hard working committee, who stuck with the many fund raising projects during the year. Everyone was fulsome in their praise of builders Clarke Joiners, who in just 7 months, completed the project, on time and on budget, to such a high standard. Following the unveiling a commemorative plaque, everyone was treated to excellent food and enjoyed dancing to music by the popular group, Malt. On Sunday morning at 11.15 the fun and games began. Over 100 kids from the area under the supervison of Mary Mc Mullen. played many different games and all enjoyed their morning thoroughly. The games will continue every Sunday morning at 11.15, and all are welcome. It was great to see handball being played again in the parish, and two Irish champions from the Bawn handball club, Michael Clerkin and Gary Coyle, played an exhibition match, of one wall handball.
