Ladies 30th Anniversary
Congratulations to the Ladies, who celebrated their 30th year in existence on Saturday, 5/10/24. A very large crowd assembled in Boyle Park to commemorate the team which started out on Parkers meadow, 30 years ago, as Boyle Park was being re-surfaced that year. The morning began with fun & games including a sack race, egg & spoon races, face painting, a bar-b-que and underage games. Players from over the years all dusted off their boots and played a very enjoyable challenge game. Following the game Chairperson Rosaleen Fox in a packed hall thanked Patrick Moynagh for sponsoring special 30 year commerative tops. A presentation of flowers was made to two of the original players, who are still playing on the senior team, Aisling Mc Dermott and Teresa Clerkin. Framed jerseys were presented to the families of two sadly deceased players, Joanne Mc Cabe & Emma Kate O Reilly. For the Blue team, Ann Marie Mc Nally won an award for best player & Margaret Mc Bride for best goal. For the white team Grace Mc Nally best player & Ciara Farrell best goal. Other awards went to Siobhan Mc Gorry, Michelle Murray, Pamela Mc Cabe & Tess Mc Cann.
Shane Mc Gorry filmed some brilliant drone footage of the days proceedings including an aerial shot of the digits three & zero, of all the participants shot from high over Boyle Park. The players who took part on Saturday, 5/10/24 were White Team Mairead McNally, Ann Clarke, Keela Pepper, Cora McBride, Megan Moynagh, Grace Woods, Leah Lynch, Diane Pepper, Margaret Hughes, Mia Brennan, Irene Geoghegan, Philippa Hughes, Maria Lynch, Siobhan Hanratty, Michelle Brady, Ciara Farrell, Tess McCann. The Blue team were Caitlín Keenan, Lisa Kissane, AnneMarie Bannon, Rachel Carragher, Claire McCaffrey, Sarah McGorry, Denise McCann, Dearbhla McDermott, Naoise McDermott, Pamela McCabe, Fiona Reilly, Margaret McCabe, Aisling McDermott, Doireann Farrell, Sarah Clarke, Caroline Smith. Referee Seamie Mc Mc Cann. The original team which played Ramor in the League on the pitch at the Comprehensive School in 1994 were, in goals a youthful Teresa Clerkin, outfield were Denise Clarke, Aisling McDermott, Margaret Mc Dermott, Pauline Shalvey, Bláthnaid Farrell, Maria Clarke, Caroline Clarke, Bernie Clerkin, Muireann Mc Dermott, Derbhla Mc Donald, Donna McGahon, Ann Shalvey, Nicola Shalvey, Anne-Marie Mc Nally, Mairead McNally, Irene McCabe, Joanne Mc Cabe, Aíne McQuillan, Katryn McDermott, Diane Pepper, Heather Pepper & Fiona Morris. Their first manager was Tom Farrell followed by Peter Hand, followed by the triumverate of Seamus Morris, Charlie Coyle & Philip Mc Dermott, who led them to their first trophy in 2000 and that team was captained by Bláthnaid Farrell.
