SECRETARY’S REPORT 2025

During the year all our teams provided great entertainment. Participation and enjoyment at
underage level all year was exceptional. I don’t need to go into detail as our Coaching Officer, LGFA
and Camogie Reports tell it all. A great effort was put in by so many to try and keep juvenile football
and camogie alive and joyful for all. It is so important going forward that everyone involved is
treated with respect as all involved are volunteers and trying their best.
Our Senior team unfortunately went down to Division 3 but thankfully remain in Intermediate for
Championship. They displayed some great football with a lot of young players stepping up and
performing well. Hopefully we can improve and develop in 2026 and make a good show in Division 3
and Intermediate Championship.
Thanks to all committee members, coaches and players for their help to me as secretary and I must
especially mention our Chairperson Damien, Treasurer Roseanna, Donail as Juvenile Secretary, to
Aogan, Pauline, Ena and Gerry for always just being there when needed and all who helped in any
way.
In 2025 Drumgoon Eire Og signed up to GAA Green Club and to date we have 6 volunteer members
and a lot of interest within the community willing to help. To start up the aim is to reduce waste and
recycle more and introduce a mini forest. To be developed further in 2026 and new initiatives
welcome.
I ask all Club Members (136 Adult members and 108 Juvenile in 2025) to volunteer and help in some
way in the coming year 2026 as we all need help and encouragement. There is an unbelievable
amount of work involved in the day to day running of the Club including Insurance, registration,
fixtures, fundraising, ground maintenance and last but most important Child and Player welfare.
Rules and guidelines must be followed to protect the Club, our juveniles and ourselves as individuals
volunteering both for now and into the future.
I especially want to thank our Senior Management team in 2025 – Gerard McGeough, Seamus
Morris, Aogan Farrell and Damien Clarke. I found them very helpful in all dealings during the year.
Thanks to Aoife McDonald for all her help with Physio. Thanks to Tony Mahon for keeping the
grounds in great shape and best wishes to Tony in his recent retirement. He was a pleasure to have
for the last 5 years looking after the grounds. Lucky for Drumgoon we have already a replacement
who has taken over from Tony. I look forward to working with Brian Clarke in the coming year.
Thanks to Damien Clarke who always is available to do whatever needed around our facilities
especially prior to games.
Gratitude to all voluntary help which is what the Club is made off – where would we be without you
all —- yourselves on committee, coaches, lotto sellers/helpers and all who helped with our tuck shop
at home games. A special thanks to Donal Murphy who is representing the Club refereeing within
the County for all age groups. It is just brilliant to have a Referee from the Club and hopefully more
will follow.
In conclusion, I wish everyone a Happy and healthy Christmas and New year. 2026 will bring
changes as we are working together to become OneClub. Personally, it is the way it should be but change always bring issues and problems but together I do believe if all concerned are open and
honest – this time next year we will be more united.
I’m finishing up with this quote “Be part of the solution – not the problem”
May 2026 bring Good Health and plenty more fun and games for all.

Drumgoon Camogie Club – 2025 Season Review
This year has been a fantastic one for Drumgoon Camogie, with every age group showing
huge progress, commitment, and pride in the blue and yellow jersey. From our youngest stars
to our senior players, the passion for the game has shone through at every level.
U8s & U10s
Our youngest members, the U8s and U10s, took part in several blitzes throughout the year,
both at home and away. The girls displayed great skill, teamwork, and determination in every
game, bringing huge excitement and energy to the club. These young players are the future of
Drumgoon Camogie, and their enthusiasm for the sport is infectious.
U12s
The U12s had a particularly strong season. They topped their group in the Spring League and
advanced to the final, where they faced a tough Ballinagh side. Despite a brave performance,
they were narrowly beaten on the day. However, they bounced back in style in the Summer
League, defeating Laragh in an excellent final to bring home the title. Well done to all
involved on an impressive season — as noted by Shane Woods of CCB, it was a thrilling
final showcasing great skill and teamwork. This great bunch of girls also got to play in
Caman to Croker in May and the girls thoroughly enjoyed playing on the hollow turf of
Croke Park.
U14s
Our U14s also enjoyed a fine year, reaching the semi-finals in both the Division 1 League and
Championship. They put in strong performances against Ballinagh in the League semi-final
and Denn in the Championship semi-final, showing real grit and potential throughout the
season. This group continues to impress, and we look forward to seeing them develop further
in the coming years.
U16s
The U16 squad had another strong campaign, reaching the semi-finals in both League and
Championship. They came up against Denn in the League semi-final and were edged out on
the day, while in the Championship semi-final they narrowly lost to Bailieboro — with just a
puck of a ball between them. It was a season of narrow margins but huge promise for this
talented group.
Minors
Our Minor team competed in Division 1 this year, facing some of the toughest opposition in
the county. They earned a great win over Bailieboro in their third game, and with Ballinagh
conceding, they looked set for a semi-final place. Unfortunately, the Minor tournament was
pulled due to rule breaches by another team — through no fault of Drumgoon’s. Despite this
disappointment, the girls can be proud of their performances and continued progress.
Seniors Team

Our Senior team had a busy season, gaining valuable game time and improving with each
outing. In the Junior Reserve the girls had a strong run, reaching the semi-final where they
faced old rivals Bailieboro. After a close first half, Bailieboro pushed ahead in the second and
progressed to the final.
In October, Drumgoon and Bailieboro were the only two teams eligible to contest the County
Final in Breffni Park. It was a fiercely fought game — only a point separated the sides at half
time. Despite conceding a soft goal early in the second half, our girls battled bravely to the
end. Camogie Association President Brian Molloy attended the final and praised the high
standard, excitement, and skill on display, commending both teams and Cavan Camogie as a
whole.
The team can be proud of their performance and the spirit they showed on the big stage.
County Representation
We were very proud to have several Drumgoon players represent Cavan at county level this
year:
– Éadaoin Morris was part of the Cavan Minor panel that reached the All-Ireland
semi-final, losing out to eventual champions Wicklow.
– Grace Geoghegan, Lucy Morris, and Aoibhín Callaghan played with the Cavan
U16 squad, who captured the Ulster Title and finished as All-Ireland U16C
runners-up.
– Aoibhín Callaghan, Lucy Morris, Gráinne Hughes and Katie Mc Cabe were also
part of the U15 Development Panel that went on to win a National Division 4 All-
Ireland Title in Abbotstown. Aoibhin captained the girls on the day which was a
huge honour for Aoibhin.
– Katie McCabe and Aisling Holden represented Drumgoon on the U14 Development
Squad, who also brought home All-Ireland honours with a fantastic win in Innisfails.
– A special word of thanks and congratulations to Margaret McCabe, who was part of
the U14 management team that guided these young players to national success.
In Summary
It has been an incredibly positive year for Drumgoon Camogie — full of development,
dedication, and great achievements at every level. From our youngest girls taking their first
steps in the sport, to our county representatives bringing home national titles, the future of
Drumgoon Camogie is brighter than ever.
A huge thank you to all the players, coaches, parents, committee members, and supporters
who made the year such a success. Your hard work and passion are what keep this great club
thriving. Special thanks to all members and the wider community for supporting all our
fundraising events throughout the year.
Here’s to another exciting and successful year ahead — Up Drumgoon!

Drumgoon Ladies Report
2025 seen our membership continue to grow with almost 150 Members from u6
right up to Senior Ladies.
The u6,8 & 10 girls were busy at blitzs and challenge matches over the summer – One
memorable and special blitz was when our u10 girls were invited to Magheracloone
shortly after Fr Michael passed.
Our u12 girls had a great year, finishing top of the Autumn League which got us a
home final which was a great battle which we lost out on in the end – 11 of the squad
are still u12 for 2026 so definitely worth watching!
Our u14 girls gave some terrific performances and reached the Div3 League Final and
so were upgraded to Division 2 for Championship where they reached a Shield Semi-
Final but unfortunately though lots of progress was made, no silverware was taken
back to Boyle Park.
The under 15 girls represented us at Feile; Our u16 girls won the championship shield
final and Minor girls are in the final this Sunday at 1030 in Boyle Park. Our senior
ladies were unfortunate in the Championship Semi Final.
We have had a lot of representation away from Boyle Park in Ulster Development;
Community Games, in St Aidan’s Comprehensive and various 3 rd Level Colleges
around the country – it’s great to see the fruits of our labour!
We would like to thank our Main Sponsor Patrick Moynagh & Moynagh Accounting
for the continued support and belief in our ladies team.
None of this would happen without our coaches who give up their time week after
week all year through so a huge thanks to them all.
Finally we would like to thank the committee, for the use of Boyle Park & the
facilities for both training and games and look forward to developing the one club
along with Drumgoon Eire Og & Drumgoon Camogie

Coaching Officer report 2025

As Coaching Officer, I am pleased to present the 2025 report on all underage and adult
coaching activities within Drumgoon GAA Club.
This year has been a very positive one for our club, with great commitment shown by players,
coaches, and parents alike across all age groups. The standard of coaching continues to
improve, and participation numbers remain strong thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of
our volunteer coaches.
Nursery to Under-12
Our Nursery and Underage groups (U8–U12) had an excellent season. The took part in
numerous Go Games blitzes throughout the year and benefited from top-quality training
sessions every Saturday morning. The focus on fun, skill development, and teamwork has
been evident in every session.
A sincere thank you to John Reilly, Darragh Crosson, Kenneth McIntyre, and their coaching
teams for their outstanding effort and organisation throughout the season. Their continued
commitment ensures that our youngest players develop a love for Gaelic football and a solid
foundation of skills for the years ahead.
Under-14
Our U14 team, under the guidance of Bryan Bates, Paul McEnroe and Dónaill McQuillan had
a fantastic year. They reached the semi-final of the league and went on to contest the final of
the championship, a great achievement for the group. They also enjoyed success in the U13
grading competition, showing great progress and teamwork. Thank you to our coaches for
their excellent work and dedication with this talented group.
Under-16
The U16s, under Martin Clerkin and his coaching team, also had a very competitive season.
They reached two semi-finals, showing consistent improvement and determination
throughout the year. Well done to all players and mentors for their hard work and
commitment.

Minor
At minor level, Drumgoon contested two tough semi-finals in league and championship. With
the team being well represented at county minor level it left the group a little undercooked at
various times throughout the season. This group continues to develop and will provide a
strong foundation for the club’s future senior teams. Thank you to Jim McNally, Conall
Farrell and Martin Clerkin for their help with this team.

Under-20
Our U20 team are still in competition at the time of this report, and we wish them the very
best of luck in their remaining games. We’re confident they will continue to represent the
club with pride and determination.
Reserves
The reserve team enjoyed a strong year in both league and championship, showing progress
and building a solid young squad. Their performances throughout the year demonstrate the
strength and depth coming through at adult level.
Senior
Our senior team unfortunately suffered relegation in the league, but their championship
performances were very encouraging. The squad is developing well, and with continued
effort and commitment, there’s a strong foundation to build on for the future. More structured
player support and development throughout the year could help the team take the next step in
2026.
A special word of thanks to Gerard McGeough and Seamus Morris for their continued hard
work and dedication throughout the season. Gerards’ ongoing commitment is invaluable to
the club.

County representation
We have been well represented on our county academy squads this year with Brian
McDermott and Charlie Gallagher making great progress and representing our county at u15
and u16 level. Alex Fagen has been selected to join the academy for 2026. We were very
fortunate to have two county minor representative in 2025. Ciarán Clerkin and Damien
Hughes did the club proud in making an Ulster minor final and an All Ireland quarter final.
Congratulations to the ever-green Keith Fannin who continues to represent Drumgoon with
the Cavan masters team and to Shane McGorry who played a role with Cavan masters also.
Best wishes to Matthew McDermott and the Cavan u20 squad in 2026.
Referee
Thank you once to Donal Murphy who represented Drumgoon with distinction again this
year with one of the most important jobs of all. With many new rules to get used to he
performed his role to a high standard all year. I would like to encourage anyone who may
have an interest in representing the club by refereeing to please chat to Donal about his
experience and it would be a great help to the club to have more referees available.

Parents
Thank you to all parents who drive, wash, support, congratulate and console our young
players every time they represent us. Your contribution to our club is immense and it is
recognised by all of us. We encourage you to keep supporting Drumgoon Eire Óg and to get
involved in any specific area of the club that you have an interest in. We need everybody and
there is always a role for you on Boyle Park.

Committee
I want to thank my fellow committee members for their co-operation and dedication again to
our club this year. To our juvenile secretary Dónaill McQuillan I want to thank for all of his
efforts throughout the year with the organisation of our games. He has learned from the best
in Margaret Hughes. Thank you Margaret once again for being the glue that knits our club
together and for all of your counsel, advice and help to all of our members. Congratulations
to Damien Clarke on a successful first year as chairman. Your dedication to Drumgoon is
without question and without equal. Best wishes to you in 2026.
Conclusion
Overall, 2025 has been a year of great progress for Drumgoon GAA, both on and off the
field. Our coaching structures are strong, participation levels remain high, and our teams are
competitive across all grades. None of this would be possible without the time, energy, and
passion of our many volunteer coaches and mentors – thank you all for your efforts.
Let’s continue to build on this progress as we move into 2026, with the shared goal of
developing our players, supporting our teams, and strengthening Drumgoon GAA for the
future.
