Under 18 Camogie Final

Drumgoon 10-02 - 0-05 Denn
25 Sep 2023 - 18:30Kingspan Breffni

Drumgoon Minors took on Denn in the Division 2 Championship in Breffni Park last Monday.  Having met each other twice already this season, and each coming away with a win this promised to be a good encounter.  In the opening exchanges the teams seemed evenly matched with everyone battling hard in the tackles but when Rose Geoghegan broke free to go on a solo run and finished with an even more impressive goal this settled the Drumgoon girls.  This was followed by some excellent team play by Drumgoon with great work in mid-field by Mairead Markey and Philippa Hughes there was plenty of ball into the forwards and they were rewarded with an excellently taken goal by Ciara Lynch.   Denn came back on the attack but some brilliant work by a strong Drumgoon defence and the ever-solid Alannah Clarke in goals kept the scores down.  Drumgoon were well on top come half time and the second half started as the first had with Denn not going to give up easily but goals from Mairead Markey, Grace Ruxton, Amelia Bannon and a hat-trick for Emma Morris meant that the Drumgoon girls ran out worthy winners, 10-2 to 0-5.   This was an excellent display of camogie and sportsmanship by two very skilful teams and it’s a testament to both clubs that they could field 15 aside and both teams really looked at home of the big Breffni pitch.

Hugh congratulations to the team.
