Under 15 Boys win League Final
Drumgoon under 15 boys put in a brilliant team performance in Redhills on Tuesday evening to outscore their formidable opponents Arva / Killeshandra combination, in the final of the Division 4 League. The boys led from start to finish and were quickly on the scoreboard through their livewire corner forward, the dashing Damien Hughes. Damien added a well taken goal before St. Josephs opened their account with points from Tommy Fay and Keelan O’ Hanlon. Damien continued to add to his points tally and after a good clearance from Rian Crosson, a blistering shot from Cameron Reilly ended up in the net. St. Josephs continued to fight back and goals from Tommy Fay and Shea Brady seen the scores at half time 2-10 to 2-05 in Drumgoon’s favour. With great defensive work by the dependable Brian Mc Dermott and Rian Crosson marshalling the defence throughout, St. Josephs were finding the scores hard to come by. Drumgoon continued to apply the pressure in the second half and great passing movements the full length of the field, resulted in goals for Damien Hughes and attacking wing back Ciaran Clerkin. St. Josephs continued to battle hard and their efforts were rewarded with goals from Shea Brady and Daire Finnegan. Caolan Crosson and Jamie Smith worked their socks off and with time running out Matthew Sherlock and Cormac Clerkin added points for Drumgoon to seal a deserved victory. St. Josephs pressed hard at the end but a brilliant goal line clearance from Daniel O’ Reilly and good work from the ever reliable Breen Clerkin kept the lead intact. Ciaran Brady presented the cup to joint captains, Rian Crosson and Cameron O’ Reilly. Cameron thanked Redhills for hosting the final, St. Josephs for an exciting game, referee Conor Lyons and the team management of Barry Crosson, Martin Hughes, Martin Clerkin and Aogan Og Farrell.
