Drumgoon ladies had a very good win on Sunday morning in the Intermediate championship, when they defeated St. Killians in Mullagh on a scoreline of 6-14 to 5-14. Leading the way in the scoring stakes was 4 goal star Jordan Crowe. Jordan was in scintillating form, and ended up with a personal tally of 4-05. Catherine Aherne was also brilliant scoring 2-07, while Tess ended up with 1-02 and Sarah Clarke 0-1.
Played in pleasant sunshine, the reigning Junior Champions put in a superb team performance against an experienced intermediate side, St Killian’s in Mullagh. Captain Jordan Crowe led from the front with terrific accuracy and strong midfield and half forward play meant plenty ball being played into the skillful full forward line. The back line were under pressure but dug deep and turned over the St Killian’s attack enough to give the Drumgoon forward line the opportunity to out-score them. From the youthful Sophie Murphy at corner-back to the seasoned Teresa Clerkin in corner – forward, every girl worked hard and after a very enjoyable game of football, for the many spectators, a win. The first round of the intermediate championship was very sweet.
