Celt report, Butlersbridge led from pillar to post as they put an understrength Drumgoon to sword in an entertaining ACFL Division Two clash at Boyle Park. The visitors hit the ground running. A converted free in the 2nd minute by Peter Conaty was followed seconds later by a well taken Paddy McPhillips goal. Drumgoon re-grouped and Dean Carroll got his side up and running by firing over a long range point. The hosts grew into the game and when Shane Smith added a brace of points, it was seenmed like the ‘bridge’s gallop had been stumed. However, the visitors again hit the jackpot when, following a Liam McEntee point, the aforementioned McPhillips plundered a dood goal in the 29th minute. we 2-7 bra pr th W m To their credit, Drumgoon dug deep and points from Keith Fannin (free), Paddy Smith and two from Shane Smith served to cut the visitors’lead at the interval to just a single point, 2- 2 to O-7. Drumgoon weren’t nearly as competitive in the second half and with John Fitzpatrick adding a hat-trick of points between the 32nd and 35th minutes, the hosts began to look on shaky ground. And despite another Carroll point and a converted ’45 by Corey Smith, Drumgoon just couldn’t close the gap sufficiently to put their opponents under any sort of pressure. At the other end of the field, a Liam Canning goal (37) all but ended the game as a contest and left Conall Farrell’s welt taken free a mere consolation score for Drumgoon.
