Drumgoon fight back for draw

Drumgoon landed a last gasp free to deny Redhilis victory on the road in a dour ACFL Division Two tussle at Boyle Park on Friday evening last.
Gunning for their first points of the season the border club had to settle for one in the end.
Thanks to a point apiece from the aforementioned Carroll and Gerry Morris the Eire Og men extended their lead out Redhills rallied once again and Paul Martin arrowed over a free kick to cut Drumgoon’s lead to a very manageable three points, 6 to 3 at the interval.
A two pointer from Pauric Smith in the 40th minute and a similar score from Paul Martin just two minutes later had Drumgoon again looking to their laurels but, true to form, thev met fire with fire with a brace from top scorer Carroll plus a neat effort from Ben Brennan
The second half turned out to be a much more competitive affair and the quality of the play improved with Darren Lavery (Drumgoon) and Luke Nc Entee (Redhills) both notching a goal piece to up the ante. Thereafter a two pointer (Free) from Paul Martin in the 52nd minute, increased the pressure on the homesters to meet the challenge and they did so with another Gerry Morris point plus another brace from contre-forward Carroll
The destination of the spoils remained hanging in the balance but Redhills hopes of carving out a rare win was dashed when Dean Carroll curled over a free to ensure statemate at the death ahead of relegation play off dates for both sides.
