Drumgoon 0-16 Laragh Utd 3-15

Laragh came out on top in a thrilling game of football played on Boyle Park on Sunday evening last. Played in glorious sunshine and the pitch in perfect conditions both sides played some excellent football. Laragh took up where they left off, as Intermediate Champions and in the end their superior fitness and experience was the difference in the two sides. Playing with a slight breeze, Drumgoon opened brightly and soon raced into an early lead thanks to the fast running Shane Smith. Paddy Smith and Keith Fannin both added points for Drumgoon before Paul Smith opened Laraghs account, scoring an excellent long range point, his first of 6 points for the day. Killian Moynagh set up Aogan Farrell for a good score before Paddy Rudden punched the ball to the net in a ruck of players. Points from Smith, Mc Kenna and Walsh extended the Laragh lead, bur Drumgoon to their credit fought back with well taken scores from Keith Fannin and Conal Farrell to leave the scoreline at half time 0-10 to 1-09 in Laraghs favour. Laragh opened strongly in the second half and two goals in quick succession from Paddy Rudden and Jack Mc Kenna, set an uphill task for the homeside. Drumgoon to their credit continued to work hard and points from Aogan Farrell and Keith Fannin reduced the deficit. Drumgoon introduced Michael Mc Donald in an effort to shore up midfield and they were now getting plenty of possession. Play continued end to end and points from Jack Mc Kenna and Sean Tierney completed the scoring for Laragh, while Drumgoon replied through Simon Boyle and Shane Smith.
