Drumgoon deservedly just edged out next door neighbours Knockbride before a packed stand on Boyle Park on Friday evening. Exchanges were evenly shared throughout the game. Liam Fay was in excellent form for Knockbride and thanks to his point taking Knockbride led at half time by 7 points to 6. Brilliant long range play by team captain Dean Carroll and free taker Corey Smith resulted in rewarding 2 pointers to keep Drumgoon in touch. Mid way through the half Keith Fannin was dragged down in the square and he expertly despatched the resultant penalty. Drumgoon now led by two points. With time running out a high ball into the square ended up in the Drumgoon net to put Knockbride 1 point ahead. From the kickout Drumgoon drove forward and from outside the scoring arc, Conor Moynagh shot over a two pointer to restore the lead, much to the delight of the home crowd.
